Fall is here to Stay ♥
Here in Northern Michigan, fall is starting to settle in. Although it is still technically summer, there have been many clear signs that fall is here to stay. Not only are the temperatures dropping, but the leaves are changing colors, the sky is an artful mass of moody clouds, and bugs are slowly starting to thin out (bye bye mosquitoes!!). The signs of fall aren’t only evident on land though… Lake Michigan is changing too! With the windy days and the cool temperatures that we have had the past few weeks, the lake’s temperature has dropped significantly. It will only be a matter of time before the beaches are empty and the coffee shops and apple orchards are full in its place. Fall is here in Northern Michigan, and it’s here to stay!
Northern Michigan’s Mermaid gets into the Spirit of Things
With this sudden change in temperature, Traverse City’s real life mermaid has started pulling out her autumnal decorations. While Lake Michigan most likely doesn’t come to mind first when one thinks of mermaids, it is actually home to quite a few. And this specific mermaid likes to decorate her underwater cove whenever she gets the chance. Just recently, Mermaid Phantom dug up her old fall decor and swam it over to her favorite patch of boulders in all of Grand Traverse Bay. She brought her pumpkins, her newest treasure chest, a beautiful bouquet of autumn flowers and a cute sunflower sign out of hiding. She even wore her pine cone necklace and her fall flower hairpiece while sprucing up her home.
This mermaid isn’t overly excited about the frigid temperature of her magical lake, but she is certainly ready to enjoy the sweeter side of fall. Bring on the scents, sights and sounds of the season!
Happy “Basically Fall!” ♥
