How to become a mermaid without a magic spell...
If you've read my blog or watched my videos in the past, then I'm sure you share my love of mermaids and magical creatures. Wouldn't it be a dream come true be able to transform into a mermaid? I know I'm not the only crazy critter out there who has spent many days dreaming of what life would be like under the sea! And even though the weather outside isn't quite ideal at the moment for taking a dip in the lake (at least it's not around my parts!), there's no reason to put a freeze to your wish of becoming a real live mermaid. So if you'd like to learn all about one of the easiest ways to "grow" a tail, then keep reading!
I started my own mermaiding journey by purchasing a fabric mermaid tail and now my life as a mermaid has spiraled into a most wonderful adventure full of fintastic fun. Below you will find out how you can get started with your mermaid transformation and you will also find some tutorials on how to create some cute costumes accessories for your new mersona. Are you ready to dive in?

Can you buy a Mermaid Tail?

Fin Fun Mermaid Tail Unboxing Video:
These two videos will give you a good idea of what to expect when you buy your first fabric mermaid tail from Fin Fun Mermaids. But of course... yours won't necessarily look the same as mine, since they come in all sorts of cool colors and styles!
Swimming in a Fin Fun Mermaid Tail
Are you curious to see what Fin Fun's fabric mertail looks like underwater? Here's a video of my first time swimming in my "Jia's Asian Magenta Tail." It was a great time however, I will warn you that I have issues with my vision, so I wasn't quite sure where I was swimming, to be perfectly honest! I'm not the most elegant mermaid... ^-^'
And a Video of it in Lake Michigan...
DIY Mermaid Costume Accessories
How to make a fishnet mermaid belt:
Whether you own a mermaid tail or not, this waterproof mermaid accessory (made of recycled fish netting!) is a great DIY project to add a touch of the sea to your wardrobe. I like to wear mine when I'm swimming and while I'm out running errands on land, but they also make a wonderful addition to a mermaid or gypsy costume!
DIY Easy Mermaid Crown:
How to make a Sea Shell Necklace:
If you're in a crafty mood one night, you might want to sit down and try your hand at making some of these other sea themed crafts too. Both the sea shell necklace and the fishnet "crown" come together quickly and don't require many materials. My sea shell necklaces are my FAVORITE pieces of jewelry to wear no matter the occasion. (If you'd rather not make one yourself, I do have a few for sale at my Etsy store from time to time). These videos will show you how to make these pretty coastal creations.
Now that you have everything you need to become a mermaid there's only one thing left to do... Get yourself into the water! While now's not the best time to jump into the lake, many schools, hotels, and athletic clubs have their indoor pools open year round and may let you go for a swim if you ask. And if all else fails, there's always the bathtub! ;D
Thank you for swinging by my website and giving my videos a look! If you're curious about seeing some more of my mermaiding videos, then I will link you to one of my personal favorites here. Happy swimming!
