Becoming a Real-Life Fairy
I am a professional mermaid and LOVE swimming in my MerNation Silicone Mermaid Tail, however... I do really love spending time on land as well. Silicone mermaid tails are great for the water, but are certainly not made for the forest. They limit your mobility and make you almost 100% dependent on your mertender/ assistant to get from Point A to Point B. They are not ideal for the independent folks out there. Therefore, in an attempt to become more independent and free-moving in my profession as a "Fairy Tale Entertainer," I have decided to add "Professional Fairy" to my resume. After much research, I decided to purchase my Fairy Wings from Angela Jarman, the owner of "Fancy Fairy Wings & Things." Did I make the right choice? The answer is... No.

Buying from Fancy Fairy Wings & Things
Back in late November, I decided I was going to do it. I was going to buy professional-grade realistic fairy wings so that I could become a Professional Fairy. So, I looked around and came upon Fancy Fairy Wings & Things. I fell in LOVE with Angela's work and knew that I had to own one of her wings at one point in my lifetime. I then proceeded to make an account on her store and wait for her next batch of cellophane wings to go up for sale. There were probably somewhere around 30 different wings listed for sale when I logged in at her launch time, 3 pm EST/ 12 PST. Within 30 seconds, I found the wings I wanted, clicked on the pair, entered in my information and selected "Proceed to Checkout." A big, bold "SOLD OUT" popped up on my screen. Ugh. So I went back to the webpage that showed all of her listings and EVERYTHING was sold out. WITHIN LESS THAN A MINUTE!
I wanted wings so badly that I got on my Instagram and messaged Angela to see if she had anything on hand that she'd be willing to sell me. I was determined to get a hold of one of her beautiful pieces of art! She answered back quickly to inform me that she could make me a pair, as long as I was in no rush to receive them. I told her to take all the time she needed. I was thrilled to simply know I'd have some fancy fairy wings at some point in my life.... time was no concern!
On December 9th of 2017, I decided on my Wing Type, Wing Color and Vein Color. I sent the email to Angela, and she sent me an invoice for the wings on the 15th. I received my wings on the 8th of February, 2018 and opened them the next day. The process of ordering my wings did take a while, but that was because Angela was doing me a HUGE favor by custom-making me wings... which I am SO thankful for. She's a busy woman, after all!

Fancy Fairy Wings & Things: Product Review
As you can clearly see, my Cellophane Fairy Wings are BEAUTIFUL. But, as I mentioned earlier, I should not have purchased them from Fancy Fairy Wings & Things. No... it is not that I don't adore my wings, and it is not that Angela did anything wrong. I LOVE my wings and couldn't be happier with Angela's craftsmanship. The problem with the my purchasing the wings is fact that I was NOT ready for them. The last time I wore fairy wings was back in my years as a middle school student. I'm almost 23 years old now. It's been quite a long time since I've embraced my fairy side! And you know what? I damaged my wings the FIRST day I pulled them out of their package.
When I was finished filming my unboxing video, my wings fell off of my back and hit the legs of my tripod. Now... as I mentioned in my Unboxing & Review Video, the wings only fell about 3.5 feet (since I am 5 feet tall, I was standing in a foot of snow, and because the wings sit about 1/2 a foot below my head). I'm not sure if the wind knocked them off of my back, if they got hooked on a tree-branch, or if I simply was not wearing them right. Whatever the case, they fell... and they ripped in two different areas (and a third one later on). Again, Angela's craftsmanship is not to blame. I quickly approached many others to ask them if they had a similar problem, and nobody did. I was clumsy, spatially unaware and not prepared for how delicate the wings would be.
Should you Buy from Fancy Fairy Wings & Things?
After reading this, you may be wondering if you've got what it takes to wear the delicate realistic wings from Fancy Fairy Wings & Things. To help you answer that, here is a list of questions to ask yourself before making your purchase:
- Do I have prior, recent experience wearing wings? (Fabric, feather, cellophane, act.)
- Do I have good spatial awareness?
- Am I clumsy and accident prone, or am I careful and gentle?
- Do I have an area to wear the wings that is not clustered or crowded?
- Do I need wings right away, or am I able to wait patiently for my wings to be made?
- Do I have a place to store my wings?
- If I were to be honest with myself, do I feel that I am ready to wear delicate wings made out of Cellophane, or do I need more practice?
Based on your answers, you should be able to determine for yourself whether or not you are ready to handle Angela's magically majestic wings. Really, I wish I would have spent more time considering these questions before making my purchase.
What to Do if Your Wings Break
If you are like me and you've managed to break your wings already, then worry not! I have been in contact with Angela and she has offered me a few repair options. I will be keeping my wings, of course, and am practicing being more "elegant," as to avoid future damage. I highly recommend that you get in touch with the wing's maker so that you can explore what options are available to mend any damage that you may have caused them. Angela has been great about tolerating me and the mess I've gotten myself into. I'm sure she can help you too!
Speaking of "helping," I hope this Review of Fancy Fairy Wings & Things has been helpful to you. Although I'm not quite ready yet, I do hope to buy more wings from this company as they are very lovely indeed. If you chose to buy yourself a pair of wings, please tag me on Instagram (@the_magic_crafter) so that I can see you in your pretty creations. Until then, have a very magical day, dear! ♥
